I (a) LIFE IN SCHOOL INTELLECTUALY

            The 2007/2008 school year started with the administrative staff resuming two weeks before the reopening date; while the general staff meeting was held on 27/08/07, much emphasis was placed on improvement in pedagogy which will hopefully lead to better CAP results for 2008.  As usual teachers were asked to identify slow learners and come up with tailored made lessons for them so as to close the gap between them the fast learners.  The school administration congratulated the teachers for the team spirit of last year which also contributed to the good CAP results.  Periodic documents like timetable forms were available to teachers.

I (b) MORAL ASPECTS

            Though last year saw fewer cases of pregnancy among female students, the teachers were told to help raise the moral standards of the school by asking the students to be steadfast in prayer.  The new students in particular were cautioned to keep pidgin English from campus and to welcome English and French to G.T.C. Kumba.  They were told to join the French club and Drama clubs.  Mrs Akwo Berthe who is coordinator of Bilingualism in school was to put her might and energy into bilingualism.

I (c) STUDENTS DISCIPLINE

            Vandalism has become a major disciplinary problem in G.T.C. Kumba.  This will require that the school is sent another Senior Warden who will help beef up the discipline department for effective control.

            School begins at 7.30a.m to 2.40p.m Mondays through Fridays.  Both students and staff are encouraged to keep to this schedule.  While punctuality among teaching staff has improved that of students is yet to improve.  Both the teaching and administrative staff signs the attendance register everyday.  This has helped with punctuality.

I (d) HEALTH

            The absence of a residence nurse on campus has not made things easy for us.  We are therefore soliciting the appointment of a resident nurse on campus.
